SIG-INFRA: Special interest group for language technology infrastructure

The purpose of SIG-INFRA is to strengthen the cooperation regarding language technology infrastructure (LTI) between the countries and regions associated to NEALT, to coordinate activities related to LTI in the associated countries and to promote the development and use of joint LTI in the associated countries.

The responsible person and chairman of this group is Rickard Domeij. To become a member of SIG-INFRA, please contact him. Kimmo Koskenniemi is the secretary of the SIG.

Tasks and achievements

  1. Propose Nordic cooperative projects on language research infrastructure.
    1. A proposal to the NordForsk call for RIs, was submitted on 31st August 2007 by Kimmo Koskenniemi with participants Lars Borin (Gothenburg), Bente Maegaard (Copenhagen), Koenraad de Smedt (Bergen) and Eirikur Rögnvaldsson (Reykjavik). No funding was granted.
    2. A proposal to NeIC was sent by Stephan Oepen in 2012. This has not been accepted.
  2. Propose and organize workshops on Nordic language research infrastructure at NODALIDA and other events, in cooperation with ASTIN. The following successful events have been organized:
    1. Nordic perspectives on the CLARIN infrastructure of common language resources, Richard Domeij, NODALIDA 2009 (proceedings)
    2. Workshop on the visibility and availability of LT resources, Per Langgård, NODALIDA 2011 (proceedings)
    3. Workshop on Nordic Language Research Infrastructure, Koenraad De Smedt, NODALIDA 2013 (proceedings)
